The reverberations of the French Revolution and the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte shook Europe to its political and military foundations in the years between 1794 and 1815. During that period almost every European country became involved in a complex set of alliances and intrigues that cost the lives of countless fighting men in the armies and navies of the combatants. The greatest battles that the world had ever seen were fought on land and sea, battles with names that have become legend - Austerlitz, Trafalgar, Corunna and Waterloo are but a few.
