It was America’s sports car from the first, and in the half-century since, it’s only gotten better. This book gives Chevrolet’s Corvette the treatment it deserves, with brilliant, detailed photographs of noteworthy models from all six generations.

Full-color pictures, performance statistics, and historical summaries of each of Corvette’s six generations: this volume packs nearly 80 vehicles and over 250 color photos into an irresistible close-up look at an incomparable sports car. Here are the cars that seduced generation after generation, from the 1953 Corvette convertible and 1963 Corvette Grand Sport to the 1990 Corvette ZR-1 and 2006 Corvette Z06--a fitting celebration of the world’s longest continuously produced sports car.

Tom Benford is a dyed-in-the-wool car guy, award-winning automotive writer, and historian. He has authored several books, including Motorbooks’ Corvette: Five Decades of Sports Car Speed, Corvette Performance Projects 1968–1982, The Street Rod, and Garage and Workshop Gear Guide . Benford resides with his wife, Liz, in Brick Township, New Jersey. The Benford automotive stable includes six Corvettes from 1963 through 1998 and a 1933 Dodge five-window coupe street rod.

James Mann is a UK-based automotive photographer for the editorial and advertising industries. His work appears among the pages of top magazines all over the world, and he has contributed to more than 30 books; this if his fifth on Corvettes. He is the author of How to Photograph Cars, which was also published by MBI.

Car Collector Magazine, December 2007

“Benford’s Corvette features a nice mix of photography by James Mann, who adds a touch of elegance and freshness to this subject of Corvette collecting while Tom knocks out seven chapters that follow the C-Generations from 1953 to the present day. This book has significantly more text than the other two, as Tom maintains a running commentary about design and engineering throughout the chapters, making this a somewhat more interesting book to read. Mann has managed to hit all of our favorite photographic clichés and do so in such a way as to show the best attributes of dashboards, trim, and even engine compartments. For a little book, Benford has packed a lot of data, text, and imagery into 192 pages. This one will make a great stocking stuffer for the Corvette guy or gal in your life.”

Cars & Parts, November 2007

“The result is a fast-paced, colorful, encapsulated history of the legendary American icon that is Corvette … this book will enhance any collection.”
