There isn't another place in the world that can match Detroit's automotive history. For nearly a century, what was conceived, designed, produced, and marketed from this town ruled the roads. So it only stands to reason that the Motor City is likely to host some of the country's greatest collector garages.

From the personal home of the man who put America on wheels to the posh residences of current automotive icons such as Bob Lutz, Motor City Dream Garages takes readers on a guided tour of 20-plus of Motown's most interesting garages. Going beyond even these fantastic garagemahals, this book also takes readers inside select company garages for exclusive looks at the unique and important collections amassed by companies such as General Motors and Roush Industries (parent company to Roush Racing, owned by Jack Roush).

If you like both garages and the beautiful machines within, this book is for you!

Rex Roy grew up on the communications side of Detroit’s automotive industry and was first published at age 19. His editorial work expanded to include photography, with work published in Car and Driver, AutoWeek, and other automotive publications. Currently Roy runs Regis Communications, Inc., a marketing and PR firm. He is also a frequent contributing editor to Inside Line, the enthusiast magazine of the on-line automotive information giant, Edmunds.com.

Hour Detroit, November 2007

“His 192-page, plainly written book satisfies the curiosity of what some automotive notables keep tucked inside their multi-bays… true car buffs will appreciate Roy’s careful documentation of details such as the history and restoration of various cars.”

Greatcarstv.com, Dan Karnowsky , December 2007

"Coming at you straight out of Detroit is the coffee table book that every car nut absolutely must have -- Rex Roy’s "Motor City Dream Garages,” Roy is the son of a legendary ad guy on the Detroit scene, Ross Roy, whose agency was associated with Chrysler long before there was either a Daimler or a Benz name on any office building in Auburn Hills. This a book that can be enjoyed in small bites, one chapter at a time, or all in one sitting like a Thanksgiving feast. Those with voracious appetites won't be able to put it down until digested, but this holiday treat should not be missed."
Chicago Sun Times, Dec. 15, 2007“Automotive coffee table style books are a great gift and Motorbooks (motorbooks.com) is a great source with car books for every type of car enthusiast. One book I’ve recently reviewed is “Motor City Dream Garages”. This book focuses on Detroit the world’s automotive capital and some of its most interesting dream garages. Peeking inside some fantastic garages and photographing some rare and valuable cars, author Rex Roy profiles almost two dozen garages and their owners.”

Windingroad.com, Dec. 18, 2007 “Anyone who covets pieces of automotive history must also respect the places where such pieces of art and history are stored. Rex Roy set out to locate, examine and photograph some of these garagemahals around Motor City. There are more than twenty garages featured in the book and each is accompanied by a collection of photographs. In all, there are 192 pages of automotive excellence and beautiful photos. If you order soon, it might arrive before Christmas.”

Detroit News, Dec. 8, 2007“In "Motor City Dream Garages" (Motorbooks, $34.95), hometown author Rex Roy interviews prominent gearheads about their garages, including General Motors' Bob Lutz, Ford Motor Company's Kip Ewing and racing industry legend Jack Roush. Be warned: You could eat off the floors of these garages.”
TimeOut for Entertainment, Dec/January 2008 “You don’t even have to like cars to love Rex Roy’s Motor City Dream Garages, a drool-inducing journey through some of the most amazing collections of cars in the country. Do be warned that you will lower your satisfaction with your own garage and the cars you keep in it.”

Musclecar Enthusiast, January 2008

“More than 20 private collections are featured, many never before seen by the public.”
