A lifeless, barren planet in a distant galaxy is home to the famous intergalactic gladiator games known as Space Monster Battle Planet--and this year a scrappy young human named Deke Drifter has entered the battle arena. Against all odds, Deke has conquered some of the most notorious warriors in the galaxy and is closing in on the championship title. But he'll have to fight a slew of scary alien beasts bent on world domination before he can become the most powerful warrior (and save the universe)! With some help from Deke's coach, Zort, readers will learn how to create fantastic space monsters and other characters as they draw along with the story. Each action-packed battle scene introduces step-by-step instructions for drawing a new character, as well as tips and tricks every aspiring comic artist should know.
By day, Dana Muise is an animator working in the broadcast and TV cartoon industry. By night, he lives in the world of comics, monsters, and space creatures. When other kids were learning how to draw trees and clouds, he was perfecting his army of giant, clawed creatures as they prepared to battle the menacing space bugs on Planet Zoltor. The only thing he likes better than space monsters is teaching people how to draw them. As far as he knows, space monsters are real and we should know how to draw them before they get here. Dana attended Massachusetts College of Art in Boston and the School of Visual Arts in New York. He lives in beautiful San Francisco, California with his wife Leigh, a talented artist, and daughter Eva, who is his favorite little monster of all.
