The Superprix was a motor racing meeting held over August Bank Holiday on a street circuit in the center of Birmingham, from 1986 to 1990. The principal event was the Formula 3000 Championship race, but support races included touring cars and sports cars. The idea of a motor race in the heart of England's city (to emulate the Monaco circuit) had been mooted as early as 1966. In the end, the city's arterial roads round the Bull Ring and the city center provided one of the most exciting racing events ever staged in the UK.
Sam has written for Motorsport News, Autosport, and Model Collector. He has also written three other Veloce bestsellers: Autodrome - The lost race circuits of Europe, Unraced ... and a homage to where it all began for him in Motor Racing at Crystal Palace - London's own circuit.  Currently, Sam is working as Deputy Editor of the world's leading journal of motorsport technology Racecar Engineering, a position that gives him unique access to the inner workings of international motorsport.  He lives near Hertforshire, England.
"An interesting account of the 19-year battle to get racing onto the street of Birmingham and the subsequent meetings. Some fine images accompany the text." – Motor Sport
"Martin Hone's long battle to establish the event via a series of 'On the Street' demonstrations, and the setbacks associated with running such an enterprise, from vandalism to council bureaucracy, are all documented here, as are all the races that made up a unique series of events that we are unlikely ever to see again in this country." – Speedscene
"For those who never made it there, [this book] will give you a flavour of the excitement of an event whose like we will never see again." – The Marshal
"As well as a good selection of photographs, this 96-page publication also features poster and programme-cover artwork, plus a circuit map, event timetables and F300 race results." – Classic & Sports Car
