Coyner's journeys through the Appalachians began out of a curiosity for what was "around the next bend."  He came to riding later than some, purchasing his first motorcycle, a Yamaha Radian, after he finished college. He credits the open, freewheeling nature of motorcycling with firing a sense of wonderment about his surroundings that led to rediscovering his native region. He lives in Herndon, Virginia, and is the author of The Essential Guide to Motorcycle Travel.
