About the Artist |
Welcome to “The Art School Approach” to painting beautiful still lifes and florals. With this book, I will teach you some of the most important fundamentals of fine art while covering key concepts for beginning oil and acrylic painting—from seeing values to applying paint and creating color harmony. As a teacher, my duty is to help you understand these concepts, as well as to inspire the artist within. And what better way than with the fascinating and luscious world of oil and acrylic paint!
Similar to a course in painting, I have organized the book into five sections—each building on the previous. We’ll begin by covering the tools and materials you’ll need to complete the lessons in the book. Then we’ll dive into the core fundamentals of art, which will provide a foundation for the rest of the book. Next we’ll focus on painting still lifes and florals through lessons that break down painting concepts into simple terms and easy-to-follow demonstrations. You will learn and practice each concept before moving on to the next. From color mixing recipes to helpful tips and simple subjects, the instructional elements in this book take the mystery out of oil and acrylic painting and minimize the frustration that often plagues beginners.
