This comprehensive book is aimed at all those who are undertaking the helicopter Private Pilot's License course, those who have qualified recently, and those who are planning to learn to fly helicopters in the future.  The book follows the PPL(H) syllabus as it is taught, and provides a detailed account of each flying exercise.  The student is able to read about a lesson in advance before attempting it with an instructor.  However, the book does not aim to be a technical manual and it is designed to be used in conjunction with a helicopter textbook and instructor's briefings.

Helen Krasner holds a Commercial Pilot's Licence and Instructor's Rating for helicopters.  She began working as a helicopter instructor in 2003 and has been an instructor for various flying schools where she has flown Robinson R22 and R44 helicopters.  She has been writing professionally for many years and contributes regularly to aviation publications.  In 2004 she was nominated for an Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for an article about flying helicopters in Russia.  She is the Newsletter Editor for the BWPA [British Women Pilots' Association].
